All of our Polyflex products are fully tested prior to despatch and used correctly pose minimal risk. However the pressures under which they operate are significant and care must be taken when fitting and using ultra-high pressure hose assemblies (Polyflex) to ensure that all relevant safety legislation is adhered to. This includes the fitting of hose shrouds and possibly whip restraints if the hose assembly is to be used in close vicinity to the operator. Suitable operation risk assessments should be carried out and documented. Hose assemblies should be inspected before each use and SHOULD NOT be used if showing visual signs of fatigue, damage or wear. Similarly if they have been driven over (eg by a forklift truck) or subjected to a kink, even if there is no visual damage, they should not be used. In all these cases they must instead must be replaced by a competent person. During use it is important that the hose is maintained in a straight line or smooth curve as over bending/kinking may damage the hose and compromise its integrity. DO NOT pull or bend just the end of the hose to reach a particular position – the full hose should be manoeuvred into position to avoid unnecessary stress being place on any part of it. It is the responsibility of equipment manufacturers that incorporate Polyflex hose assemblies into their products to notify their customers of these requirements and require that these instructions as a minimum are passed on to end users.
